This website is run by a committed Bible believing Christian from the UK who became a Christian in 1996. This site started up in 2000. Its motto is 'Christian counter-culture youth work resources':
This site subscribes to the Evangelical Alliance statement of faith.
Member of City Community Church, a local church in the UK. Have also served many other churches and Christians across the South West.
Please note: this website has a Christian ethos based on an evangelical Christian faith. However we work with all people from all Christian denominations and all people (regardless of religion, no religion, lifestyle, race, gender, sexuality etc) to try and demonstrate integrity, quality, reliability and Christ's love through this site and our lifestyle.
The Website - author
Youth worker since 1997 and has worked in the youth work within the church and helped with many other inter-church events since. Worked with the local Christian schools project in Exeter.
Have been a project worker and secretary with a Christian based inner city community project, working with and developing community initiatives around homelessness, care at Christmas and poverty.
Was the senior Youth Leader at a church - have been involved in church youth work for 10 years. For around 6 of those years, led and was central in the youth work, developing many young people and leaders. Beyond that, supported the new youth pastor to transition youth work across.
Worked as a 'Personal Adviser' in 2 schools for a government initiative called 'Connexions', working to help young people overcome barriers to learning. Involved in a project working with young people at risk of exclusion at one school. Worked multi-agency across the city.
Work on major city events, evangelism, clubs, camps, weekends away, detached work and more to make Jesus known. Worked across so-called 'secular youth work' in a wide variety of ways. A speaker at different youth work events. Also very involved in and speak in my local church, assistant worship leader, part of cluster group leadership team, creative team, write dramas, part of AV team and serve wherever God calls. Trained up and run a worship band for a group of lads, who now play events / lead themselves.
Have run a major and very professional outreach event called Revelation with hip-hop performance, high quality visuals, games and interactivity - along with the gospel presented relevantly - also supporting and empowering the young people from our church in performance, testimony, audio and video and in ministry / prayer. Also part of key team running 'FNX' which is a professionally run, Devon-wide worship / outreach event involving many people from different churches. Key member of 'Infinity' - citywide youth work team, and produce their publicity, work to run events and do youth work too!!
Have enabled, trained, empowered many young people in many areas and worked within churches, youth service, other agencies, schools to support, mentor and be there for young pepople, taking practical action with them where necessary.
Currently working as a Teaching Assistant in a local high school, working with groups, classes and individuals inside and outside of lessons, with various learning support needs / emotional, behavioural difficulties. Work across the school with music, trips, school play, assemblies and many other activities, including mentoring and coaching.
Believe very strongly in working relationally with young people and all people. I'm a real team player and have worked with many teams of people - as long as the team / purpose is going somewhere spiritually!! Myfishbites is about team, and about God's fame, not mine!
Myfishbites - current ministry
1. Work on freelance basis such as web, design, video, supporting city-wide youth work, Christian work and in pioneering creative projects. Have set up and initiated many projects, many of which have grown significantly by God's grace. Work to very high standards, and support others in a professional and prosumer capacity (depending on need / clients).
2. Working within hip-hop culture with music production, performance, rapping, DJ-ing, training young people, running hip hop workshops, networking, music reviews, forums, advising, events, supporting and working in this global culture mission field.
3. Lead worship (music) regularly at church and beyond. Have really grown in this with a determination to grow more, both musically and as a lead worshipper. Have a lot of experience in working with young people and bands. Support a young person's band, and by God's grace and their personal faith and help from their parents, they have become true worshippers and a great band, for which we praise God.
4. Actively involved in creative projects around multi-media, video, DJ-ing, rap, bands, breakdancing and much more to empower, enable, train, build up - and disciple young people. All these services are available to Christians and other agencies especially in the South-West of England.
5. Much experience in digital media, web design, video & audio production and music projects. If you want help or projects completed in these areas please let me know and we can come to some arrangement.
6. Lead youth work sessions with relevancy and clarity - speak to both young people and youth workers in many areas of youth work - including in the areas of hip hop ministry and digital media ministry. Am also very capable at assessing, diagnosing and troubleshooting youth work - and providing practical solutions.
7. Informal advice, experience, wisdom, insight and help is free, please contact me and we'll do our best to help.
8. Regular speaker and Bible teacher, able to work with young people across different backgrounds and in differing situations, according to need. Equally able to speak to 'adult' audiences as well. Teach the Bible relevantly, with fun and with personal and practical application.
9. Work with sepcific individuals producing video, releasing young people. Also produce many hip-hop beats, work with young people on beats, MC-ing, DJ-ing. Do hip-hop reviews for UK online magazine. Have provided free beats to different people across the UK and beyond.
10. Trained schools worker, both from 'in school' and 'Christian' perspectives. Experience with various forms of emotional-behavioural and autistic spectrum disorders. Have done teaching assistant training.
All this is about serving God and his will and kingdom. Many Christians in the UK are slow to acknowledge the gifting God has given them. This info is about recognising God's heart and giftings in me and so that you know our God-given (God-glorifying, not self-glorifying!!) skills. These are given by and dedicated to God alone. Giving
Myfishbites strongly believes in not just giving 10% of our income and time, but in being whole life disciples who cheerfully and joyfully give financially, as the Bible says and as led by the Holy Spirit. This is not to big ourselves up at all, but to let you know and encourage all of us to give money, time and love.
