Intro
Good morning today we’re looking at your assembly theme of rules. We all have rules to live by whether it’s a rule you have at home or school. And as usual we’re going to start with a game.
Game
Fuzzy boards – race against Andy to get as many sheep onto a fuzzy board using drawing pins in 30 seconds. But Andy cheats.
Development
Well the point from that game is that the rules are there for a reason, when Andy cheated it meant that even though he wasn’t very good at the game he still won. When we don’t follow the rules it is unfair on people around us. Christians believe that God will always be fair to us. We’re going to read a story now its about 2 people from history called Ruth and Naomi.
Ruth and Naomi story
Do a summary of the Ruth and Naomi story..
In the story Ruth and Naomi probably thought that life wasn’t very fair to them when they both lost their husbands and they had to try and fend for themselves. But Christians believe that God helped them and made it fair for them because they trusted him to do it. Jeremiah 29:11-12 says that God has plans for good and not for disaster in our lives so Christians believe that when we trust in God’s plans for us, even when things go wrong God’s plan is a fair one.
Prayer/Reflection
Maybe you would like to think about what rules you have in your life and how you can help to make your school and homes fairer places.
Dear God thank you that you helped Ruth and Naomi and thank you that in the Bible it says that you are a fair God and that you have plans to look after us and not to hurt us. I pray that you would help us to be fair to our friends and family.
Amen.
