BIBLE PASSAGE - Luke 24.19-27
1. What was the disciples misunderstanding of Jesus? (verses 19 and 21)

(Answers: a prophet, said/did many powerful things, hoped he'd free Israel)
It must have been very exciting and confusing for these disciples. Imagine: you'd followed Jesus hoping he'd free Israel. He'd then told you he'd be taken away, was then killed, then Mary and the women then some disciples had found Jesus' tomb empty that very morning! And some angels had turned up saying Jesus was alive. Probably not your average 3 days.

Once again the disciples are unable to match the teachings of the Old Testament with what has just happened with Jesus. What Old Testament teachings are these?

Why did Jesus have to suffer before his glory and resurrection?

Unlike these 2 disciples, we don't get a personal face-to-face with Jesus in person but we do have God's Word. This is the way we get to know and hear from Jesus. We all know it but do we do it?? Approach Bible study this week as if you were talking to Jesus himself.
